Yes, Wishlist Auto Registration supports upgrades, however, it depends on whether the member is using the same email address or not.

Member is using the same email:

if the members is using the same email in the payment gateway, his account will be automatically upgraded to the new membership levels / content.

Member is using a different email:

If the member is using a different email address (a very rare case based on our experience and our clients’ experience with customers), since the only way to identify the member is with his email address then a new account will be created in this case. If that scenario occurs, you can manually merge accounts.
